Giving to Mechanical Engineering
The generosity of our donors is the "delta" between Purdue's top ranked mechanical engineering program and an average program. Gifts from individuals and businesses help to buy new laboratory equipment to keep our teaching laboratories state-of-the-art; they fund scholarships and fellowships for students; they fund professorships; they help to construct new buildings; and some even provide lifetime income for the donor.
Gifts of cash, securities and/or equipment are wonderful because they can be put to use immediately, but of equal importance are gifts of property and deferred gifts that pass to the School of Mechanical Engineering through annuities, trusts, and wills.
Gifts to establish endowments assure a perpetual source of funds to be used for the purposes designated by the donor(s). Endowments for scholarships, fellowships, and professorships are the most common and are typically named to honor the donor, a loved one, or someone who had a great influence on the life of the donor.
Our development staff will be pleased to talk with you and answer questions you may have about the various ways to give to the School and how your gift will be used to help assure we remain a top ranked school of mechanical engineering.
