Several Purdue ME faculty members have received promotions to full professor, in addition to other awards. Here's a breakdown.

Carl Wassgren, professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering, has been named a recipient of the 2017 Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award in Memory of Charles B. Murphy. Wassgren is one of just five faculty on campus to receive this recognition.

Xiulin Ruan has been named a University Faculty Scholar by the Office of the Provost, which recognizes outstanding faculty who are on an accelerated path for academic distinction.

Robert Lucht received recognition as the Outstanding Mentor of Engineering Graduate Students for 2017. Purdue's Official Mechanical Engineering Graduate Student Association (OMEGA) gave the award to Lucht to recognize that "he strikes an ideal balance between research goals and development of students. His reliability and consistent feedback shows that he is actively invested in his students overall success. He is enthusiastically involved with research, yet he lets the students to dictate the direction of their work. This allows his students to learn-by-doing to grow their critical problem solving and project management skills."

Eckhard Groll has been awarded the Peter Ritter von Rittinger International Heat Pump Award for 2017. Awarded by the International Energy Agency at the International Heat Pump Conference in Rotterdam, it recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves in the advancement of heat pumping technologies with lasting international impact.

Klod Kokini has been recognized by the Women in Engineering ProActive Network (WEPAN). He received the 2017 WEPAN Advocates and Allies Award, which honors an individual for leadership in implementing programs that advocate, mentor, and support the success of women in engineering. Klod was the co-principal investigator for TECAID (Transforming Engineering Culture to Advance Inclusion and Diversity), bringing it to Purdue in 2014.
