Eight new ME faculty members are among the 53 joining the College of Engineering for the 2015-2016 academic year: Andres Arrieta Diaz, James Gibert, Neera Jain, Chi Hwan Lee, Terrence Meyer, Fabio Semperlotti, Benxin Wu, and Song Zhang.

'Deviant brain metabolism' found in high school football players
New research into the effects of repeated head impacts on high school football players has shown changes in brain chemistry and metabolism even in players who have not been diagnosed with concussions and suggest the brain may not fully heal during the offseason.

Engineering a better 'Do: Purdue researchers are learning how
Using heat to style curly hair poses a nagging problem: applying too much causes permanent damage resulting in limp fibers devoid of natural curve. Researchers are now working to learn precisely how much heat to apply and how frequently to use heat treatment for a given hair type without destroying it.

Purdue technology could help high-performance aircraft turbine engines stay cool, perform better
Issam Mudawar, professor in Purdue's School of Mechanical Engineering, has developed a device that could use aircraft fuel to cool hot engine components in order to alleviate the high temperatures generated by high-performance supersonic engines.
