Presenter Bio

Cecilia Tenorio is a Senior Lecturer at Purdue University, where she teaches Spanish for Specific Purposes and Translation. She designed and currently directs the Minor in Spanish for the Professions, which aims to prepare students from all majors for a multilingual intercultural job market. Since she started at Purdue she has created numerous courses, such as Spanish for the Health Professions, Introduction to Translation and Interpreting, and Food and Culture in the Hispanic World, among others. Cecilia started her career in research in Classical Greek, and then moved on to journalism working in international news for several world media, including The Associated Press and Reuters, where her last position was Editor in Charge for Latin America. While at Purdue, she also started her own language services company, as well as a Spanish monthly publication for the local Gannett newspaper, which she ran for 11 years.
