The Office of the Provost has named Charles "Chuck" Krousgrill, professor of mechanical engineering, as a 150th Anniversary Professor to recognize his achievements in teaching at Purdue. Only ten faculty on campus have received this honor, in anticipation of Purdue's sesquicentennial.

PhD student Tyler Bell has developed Holostream, a platform that allows live 3D images to be captured, compressed, streamed, and displayed over standard consumer cellphone networks.

Researchers have developed a method to deposit tiny amounts of energetic materials (explosives, propellants, and pyrotechnics) using the same technology as an inkjet printer. This research, which combines Purdue expertise in both energetic materials and additive manufacturing, allows energetic materials to be deposited with unprecedented levels of precision and safety.

Suresh Garimella has been elected a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors. Garimella oversees research at Purdue, which reached $418 million of funding last year.

Xiulin Ruan and his team have successfully modeled four-phonon scattering, and their effect on heat flow.

Scott Tingle (MSME '88) arrived at the International Space Station, the 23rd Purdue graduate to become an astronaut. Scott will spend the next six months conducting scientific experiments as part of Expedition 54. Fellow Purdue graduate Drew Feustel will join him on the ISS in March 2018.

Purdue Volleyball setter Ashley Evans, an ME senior, has been named an Academic All-American... the first ever Boilermaker to receive the honor three times.
