Bookmark the ME Grad Website, https://engineering.purdue.edu/ME/Graduate, and subscribe to the ME Graduate Student Blog! These are great resources for answers to a lot of your questions, including policies, procedures, contacts, etc., as well as what opportunities may be available (seminars/workshops, job opportunities, announcements, etc.). Please use these references first to find the information you need before emailing the grad office as it can lead to quicker answers.
