Rahul Mittal named a GM Technical Fellow

Dr. Rahul Mittal (MSME '93, Ph.D. '96) has been named a GM Technical Fellow for Diesel Aftertreatment Hardware. The Technical Fellow designation recognizes employees who have a high level of functional expertise critical to the business and have achieved global recognition for their knowledge, publications, patents, and awards.

Rahul has an international standing in the diesel aftertreatment (AT) community as demonstrated by many requests for international speaking engagements and various awards, including 2012 selection by the National Academy of Engineering for the US Frontiers of Engineering symposium, 2013 SAE Forest R. McFarland Award, 2014 SAE John Connor Environmental Award, and 2017 Engineer of the Year award from American Society of Engineers of Indian Origin. Rahul has led GM in establishing hardware design, manufacturing, analytical and validation best practices for diesel AT systems, and has been instrumental in numerous technical advancements for GM.  Rahul continues, after 16 years, to be a session chair for the SAE World Congress.  He has authored 36 publications in conferences, reviewed journals and international symposiums, has been recognized with 2 Boss Kettering Awards for Diesel Particulate Filter hardware and controls initiatives and has filed for 71 Record of Invention (ROI), resulting in 40 patents, 10 Defensive Publication, 5 Tool Method Secret, several published patent applications and 8 patents with in-use award.

Rahul was recognized as an Outstanding Mechanical Engineer in 2016.
