Robert H. Buckman

Robert H. Buckman received his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, 1959. He also received a master’s of business administration from the University of Chicago in 1961.

He is chairman of the board and CEO of Bulab Holdings, the Memphis, Tenn.-based parent company of Buckman Laboratories. In 1979, Buckman was named president and chairman of Buckman Laboratories, a multinational specialty chemical corporation that researches, develops, manufactures and markets chemical products for use in the paper, water and leather industries. Under his leadership, the company expanded its domestic and international market and became recognized worldwide for its application of knowledge-management and quality programs.

Buckman is a trustee of Rhodes College in Memphis. He is on the executive committee of the Pulp and Paper Foundation and on the boards of directors of the American Productivity and Quality Center, the Institute of Paper Science and Technology, the Paper Technology Foundation and the White River Institute. Buckman Laboratories’ has been awarded the Knowledge Management Leadership Award, the Arthur Andersen LLP Enterprise Award of Best Practices and the 1997 Computerworld Smithsonian Award for innovative applications of technology in manufacturing.
