Welcome to PONTES Research Scholarship Experience!

The College of Engineering at Purdue University invites qualified undergraduate-level students from Brazil who have been pre-selected by their respective universities to compete for a research opportunity at Purdue University August 2024-December 2024 and January 2025-May 2025.

Students from the three highly ranked universities in Brazil, the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), the University of Sao Paulo (USP), and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), are invited to work on research projects full-time as visiting student researchers with participating CoE faculty.

If selected for the PONTES program, each student will receive up to $7000, more than half dedicated to housing and the remaining stipend for daily living and travel expenses. The stipend is very generous; however, students will need to supplement the stipend, dependent upon how the students uses the award. To apply, once students have been pre-selected by their universities, they will need to complete an online application, and upload a transcript, an abstract of their proposed research project, idea, experience relevant to projects selected, a letter of reference, a letter of motivation, and curriculum vitae by December 15, 2023. Within the application, students can select up to 3 Professors with whom they would like to work. Applications will be reviewed the week of December 19th and interview notifications will be sent by January 19th for scheduled interviews from January 22-31, 2024 for those candidates chosen to continue in the selection process. Finalists will be notified by February 2, 2024.

Embark on a mutually rewarding research experience! Up to fifteen PONTES scholarships will be awarded.
