Ralph J. Weiger

Diversity is the byword for Ralph J. Weiger's career. He has been chairman, president or chief executive officer of five organizations. For the first ten years of his career, Weiger worked for Square D Company where he gained national recognition and had the opportunity of working with fellow alumnus, Frank Roby.

In 1959, Weiger joined Roby at Federal Pacific Electric Co. where, as general manager of the Electrical Motor Control Division, he introduced the GA-4000 magnetic motor starter which sold out the first year's planned production in just 30 days. His success led to his being appointed the chairman and president of Signal Stat Corporation where he introduced computer techniques into production management as well as into accounting.

In 1974, Weiger became chairman and president of Midas International where he again instituted the use of custom computer programs and achieved 100% increase in profits.

In 1979, he founded the Moneco Group which emphasized the electrical, industrial and computer systems engineering in the franchise field. Under the Moneco hallmark, he has been chairman of the International Franchise Association and of the Council of Franchise Suppliers. He has served as vice-chairman and president of Jiffy Lube International, the president of Alghanim in Kuwait, and as a general partner in American Franchise Fund Ltd. Upon returning to the United States from Kuwait, he concentrated his energies on investing, corporate turn-arounds, and franchising.

A loyal Purdue alumnus, Weiger is a life member of the Purdue Alumni Association and has served as president of the Cleveland Purdue Alumni Group. He was an Old Master's lecturer, spoke at the Krannert Executive Forum, and was named a Distinguished Engineering Alumnus in 1977.
