I believe an engineering education offers more career paths than any other discipline. These paths include research, design, applications, sales, manufacturing, teaching, consulting, and, eventually, technical management. With the proper advanced degree, the paths expand to include medical engineering, patent law, engineering economics, and executive management.

Zane G. Todd earned his BSEE degree from Purdue with highest distinction in 1951. An originator of probability analysis of power system reliability, he was named a Purdue Distinguished Engineering Alumnus in 1976 and received an honorary doctorate from Purdue in 1979. On boards of numerous corporations, he is a former member of the Conference Board and has served as a director of the National Association of Manufacturers, the Edison Electric Institute, and the Indiana State Chamber of Commerce.

Instrumental in community improvement, Todd has been active in the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, the Commission for Downtown, the Indianapolis Private Industry Council, and the Indianapolis Center for Advanced Research. He is past president of the 500 Festival Associates and the Advisory Board of St. Vincent Hospitals, is a past chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Indianapolis and a former trustee of Christian Theological Seminary.
