Seminar, Tour, and Dinner
Join fellow alumni on campus for Homecoming. Events kick off in Dauch Alumni Center with our technical seminar from 1–4 PM. Come hear ECE faculty highlight the latest research and technologies within the school.
We will then tour the Birck Nanotechnology Center from 4:30–5 PM and enjoy dinner on Memorial Mall in conjunction with the Centennial Celebrations of the Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) student organization.

Michael J. & Katherine R. Birck Professor and Head of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Mark Smith became head of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering on January 1, 2003. His research areas of interest include communications, networking, and signal and image processing. He was previously the executive assistant to the president at Georgia Institute of Technology.
Jim Cooper
William Harrison Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Jim Cooper has graduated 20 PhD students and has been principal investigator on $29 million in sponsored research contracts. He is also a founding co-director of the Birck Nanotechnology Center, a $58-million research facility that recently opened in Purdue's Discovery Park.
Steve Pekarek
Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Steve Pekarek serves as the area chair for energy sources and systems. As a faculty member he has been the principal investigator on several successful research programs, including projects for the Navy, Air Force, Ford Motor Co., Motorola, and Delphi Automotive Systems.
David Ebert
Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering
David Ebert is director of the Purdue University Regional Visualization and Analytics Center (PURVAC). The center will perform research that allows personnel at all levels of homeland security to quickly and effectively extract, visually analyze, and synthesize information to make quick and accurate decisions.
