Materials Engineering Professional Master’s Program (PMP)
The MSE Professional Master's Program (PMP) at Purdue aims to enhance students' competitiveness in the job market and deliver top-tier Materials Engineering talent to the industry. This program caters to those passionate about industry careers, offering advanced technical education in material science and engineering applications, complemented by business-oriented professional skills. Our diverse student pool includes graduates from MSE and other engineering and science disciplines, as well as high-potential talent from the industry.
The PMP program is self-funded or corporate-sponsored and features an industry-focused, agile curriculum balancing flexibility with rigor. Students must complete 18 credits of courses with a materials concentration, which can include courses from Materials Engineering and other engineering or science departments. This selection is based on personal career goals and consultation with the program Director and Plan of Study advisor.
The program also allows for up to 12 credits of professional development electives, enabling further skill-building in areas such as data analytics, product/process design, project management, engineering leadership, entrepreneurship, and many other offerings enabled through our partnership with the renowned Purdue Mitch Daniels School of Business and other colleges across the University. Additionally, students can integrate practical experiences through directed research, internships, and co-ops. Furthermore, Professional Masters students have access to unique development opportunities, including professional webinars and seminars delivered by industry professionals, addressing key emerging industry areas.
