Electrifying The World for a Sustainable Future
2050 University Avenue
East Palo Alto, CA 94303
Electric power systems worldwide are undergoing a major transformation that is driven by broad societal demand for increased sustainability. The landscape is changing dramatically with the introduction of renewable energy sources at levels that were considered to be unrealistic just a few years ago, while older coal and nuclear power plants are being retired. In addition to the changes made within the electric domain, the transportation sector is on the verge of a metamorphosis with the advent of plug-in electric vehicles that threaten to marginalize the internal combustion engine. In this talk, we will present our vision for a sustainable path forward, and how ongoing research activities at Purdue are contributing to this paradigm shift.
