Uzia Galil
The rate of change in science and technology is growing faster and faster every day. Yesterday has already gone. Tomorrow is the future, and I’m always looking ahead.
The recognized founding father of Israel’s high-tech industry, Uzia Galil is a graduate of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (BSEE, 1947) and Purdue University (MSEE, 1953). He was the founder of Elron Electronic Industries Ltd., the first high-technology multinational holding company based in Israel and operating worldwide.

Dr. Galil served as Elron’s CEO for 38 years and chairman or director of most Elron-founded companies. Prior to this, he was head of the electronic department of Technion’s physics faculty (1957-62) and of electronic research in the Israeli Navy (1954-57). He also worked in R&D for Motorola in Chicago (1953-54).

In 1999 Dr. Galil founded Uzia Initiatives and Management Ltd., which helps regional innovations become global successes. The company provides management support to young entrepreneurs, leading teams of growing technology companies, and leveraging the experience and global network of its management team and worldwide partners. He also founded the Galil Center for Medical Informatics and Telemedicine at Technion’s Bruce Rapaport Faculty of Medicine in Haifa. The center has made its mark as one of the few medical schools to integrate computer science, biomedical engineering, and other engineering principles.
