Women's History Month and Women in ECE
March is Women’s History Month. To celebrate, here is a look at some of the expertise and contributions of faculty, students, and alumni of the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University.
Faculty
The Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University features 18 women faculty members. They are experts in quantum technologies, microelectronics and nanotechnology, photonics, computer vision and image processing, data and information analysis, artificial intelligence, machine learning, VLSI circuit design, wireless communication and sensors, and much more. Recruiting more women faculty remains a priority for Purdue ECE.
Alumni
The Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering boasts many successful women alumni, many of whom give back to the School as members of the ECE Advisory Board, participants in the ECE Mentors program, and serving as guest speakers in classrooms or networking opportunities.
Graduate Student Spotlights
The graduate programs in the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering prepare students to impact the future and address grand challenges in energy, transportation, communication, and more. The degree programs prepare students for work in academia or industry. Students work alongside Purdue ECE’s exceptional faculty, who are leaders in their disciplines. The Graduate Women in Engineering Network (GWEN) connects students with other female engineering graduate students, as well as practicing engineers and alumnae.
Undergraduate Student Spotlights
The Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering undergraduate program fosters a community of engineering women through social, academic, and professional opportunities. In addition to mentoring and guidance from ECE faculty and academic advisors, organizations such as Women in Electrical and Computer Engineering, the Women in Engineering (WiE) Program, and the Purdue Society of Women Engineers seek to prepare members for future careers by developing leadership skills and creating opportunities to learn outside of the classroom.
