Help Session for Final Exam is scheduled for Wednesdayday, May 5,
from 5:30-7 pm
in room EE 115 of the EE Bldg. Zac will cover an old final as well as
field questions.
Final Exam is scheduled for Friday, May 7, from 1-3 pm
in room 224 of the CL50 (THE big lecture hall in the Class of 1950
Building.)
The final will be comprehensive. We will review for the final in class
this
week.
Allowed three double-sided 8.5 x 11 in crib sheets. Blue
books will be provided.
Note on all-pass filters from Hmwk 9, Prob. 5.35:

I will hand back graded Exam 3's at Tuesday's class this week,
4/27. It went VERY well! I have to run off to a faculty mtg right
at the end of class, so any regrades will be handled on Wednesday.
Exam 3 scheduled ran on
Thursday, Apr. 22, on Chapter 7
(Sampling Theory)and Chapter 5 (Discrete-Time Fourier Transform)
material, Homework 8 plus class handouts. Same rules: open-book but
closed-notes. Allowed single double-sided 8.5 x 11 in crib sheet. Blue
books will be provided. Help Session ran 5:30-6:30 pm on Wednesday,
Apr. 21, in MSEE B010.
Exam 2 Exam 2 was given in-class
on Tues., Apr. 6. Coverage: Chapters 4 on the Fourier Transform and
Properties, Homeworks 6 and 7. Open-Book but closed-notes. Allowed
single double-sided 8.5 x 11 in crib sheet.
Blue books will be provided.
Exam 1 was given in-class on Thurs., Feb. 25. Coverage:
Chapters 1,2,3 (but NOT Discrete-Time Fourier Series) and
Homeworks 1 thru 5. Open-Book
but closed-notes. Allowed single double-sided 8.5 x 11 in crib sheet.
Blue books will be provided.
Attendance in class is mandatory. It is not acceptable to turn in
your homework and then leave class.
Major announcements will be posted here at the top of this web
page.

NOTATION CHANGE: Notation-Revised Table 4.1 of Fourier
Transform Properties :
Notation-Revised Table 4.1 .
I removed the j factor notation in how the Fourier Transform is
written
in the text. The authors attempt to draw upon what you learned in
ECE202,
viewing the Fourier Transform as the Laplace Transform X(s) evaluated
along the imaginary axis s=j w . As we'll discuss in class, this can
be confusing. I will attach the revised table to each exam.

to frequency response of LTI systems described by difference equations.
Chap. 5 Supplement
OLD EXAM 1's:
Exam 1 Coverage: Text Chaps 1-3, Homeworks 1-5. open book
plus one loose 8 1/2 x 11 handwritten sheet of paper.Fourier Series
will be included on the exam as in my old Exam 1's posted below
along with solutions. You should try the old exams without
looking at the solution.
OLD EXAM 2's :
Exam 2 Coverage: Primarily Text Chapter 4, Homeworks 6-7.
The primary topic covered is the Fourier Transform, properties and
pairs. Only a single handwritten two-sided crib sheet is
allowed for this exam, in addition to the textbook (open book)
No calculators. A table of Fourier Transform properties
will be attached to the exam, with the j notation removed
and some additions (e.g. Duality property) relative to Table 4.1
in the textbook.
OLD EXAM 3's:
Exam 3 Coverage: Primarily Text Chapters 7 and 5, Homeworks 8-9.
Primary coverage topics: Sampling Theory and Discrete-Time Fourier
Transform, properties and pairs. Also, relationship between DTFT and
Fourier Transform when
the DT signal was obtained by sampling a CT (analog) signal. Also,
frequency response of DT LTI systems described by difference equations.
