Description:

This team uses simulations and measurements to quantify coastal processes.

The team uses a combination of computer modeling, laboratory and field measurements, and data analysis to quantify waves, currents, shoreline erosion, and sand transport along Lake Michigan’s coasts.  The ultimate goal of the team is to use these approaches in order to create more resilient coastal protection strategies and measures.

Relevant technologies: Unmanned aerial vehicles; acoustic Doppler velocimetery; particle image velocimetry; acoustic backscatter sensors; echosounding; LiDAR
