Dear Engineering Students,

We hope that you are staying safe and healthy this Spring Break. We know that you have received messages from Purdue about all instructional activity moving online for the remainder of the semester. In this dynamically changing time, it is more important than ever for you to read your email messages.

We also know that some of you are making decisions on whether or not to return to campus. We wanted you to have the latest information about campus operations so that you can factor that into your decision.

Instructional Labs:

All instructional labs will be closed to students, including the Bechtel Innovation Design Center.

Computer Labs:

All ECN computer labs will be closed to students. ECN is working on making the ECN computers in those labs available to you via Remote Desktop. Instructions will be forthcoming.

Libraries:

All libraries are closed to students, with the exception of Hicks undergraduate Library. Hicks will remain open to Purdue students Monday through Friday from 8 am to 6 pm to provide access to workstations and WiFi for a limited number of students ONLY. This is subject to change at any time. No in-person library services will be provided and social distancing protocol will be strictly enforced.

Advising:

Advisors will be available, but not for in-person appointments. They will be accessible via digital platforms (email, phone, some videoconferencing). More information on this to come soon.

Support Services:

Academic success resources, when available, will be online. The Center for Career Opportunities has suspended in-person career coaching and drop-in offerings, but has several online options.

Events/Restaurants/Things to Do:

Campus events have been cancelled, including EWeek, SpringFest, and GrandPrix. The CoRec is closed. All Indiana restaurants, coffee shops and bars are closed to in-person seating. Some may have delivery/carryout options. The Tippecanoe Mall and all local movie theaters are closed.

The College of Engineering remains committed to your health and safety, as well as your academic success. We will continue to update you as decisions are made that will affect you.

The University has a dedicated website to COVID-19. Please visit this page for additional information.

Best wishes to you in this uncertain time,

Mark Lundstrom
Acting Dean
