Robert J. Frosch receives ACI Award

Robert J. Frosch, professor of civil engineering and associate dean of resource planning and management, has been given the Arthur J. Boase Award from ACI, the American Concrete Institute.

Frosch was cited for his "significant research on shear, bond and cracking behavior of reinforced and pre-stressed concrete systems, and for his service on ACI technical committees." He will receive the award at ACI's convention in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 26.

Frosch serves on the ACI Board of Direction and is a member of several board committees, including financial advisory, membership, and publications. He is chair of ACI Subcommittee 318-D, Flexure and Axial Loads: Beams, Slabs, and Columns, and a member of ACI Committee 318, Structural Concrete Building Code, and ACI Subcommittee 318-SC, Steering Committee. He also has chaired or participated in numerous other ACI committees and subcommittees. Frosch also is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Precast/Pre-stressed Concrete Institute (PCI).

Frosch's research focuses on the design and behavior of structural concrete, earthquake engineering and bridge engineering. He received his BSE in civil engineering from Tulane University, New Orleans, and his MSE and PhD in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
