2005 Art on Campus Competition

Three artists have been selected winners of the 2005 Art on Campus Competition.
The three winning artists are Kristy Deetz, Karin Jurick, and Catherine Kleeman. Each artist has a very unique style and uses different media. Artwork by all three artists will be placed in Rawls Hall.
Kristy Deetz
Kristy Deetz is known for painting with encaustic on carved wood. Originally from Ohio, she is currently an Assistant Professor in the Art Department at the University of Wisconsin at Green Bay. Deetz earned a Master's degree in Fine Arts from the Ohio State University with a painting concentration. Her undergraduate work was done at Bowling Green State University where Deetz studied painting and received her Teacher Certification. Since graduation, Deetz has exhibited extensively throughout the United States.
Karin Jurick
After dropping out of art school, Karin Jurick concentrated on running the family business. For fifteen years, Jurick went without creating art. Just a few years ago, she decided to start painting again. After successfully selling her paintings on eBay, Jurick decided to build a studio and focus on her artwork. Jurick now paints at least one 6 inch square picture each day. Her work primarily consists of oil paintings featuring scenes of daily life.
Catherine Kleeman
Catherine Kleeman is a fiber artist from Baltimore. Kleeman's works are collages of fabric pieces that she has dyed, stamped, screen-printed, and painted. Known as "art quilts," Kleeman's artwork has appeared in many quilting magazines, as well as art publications and exhibits. Married for over thirty-five years, Kleeman is a proud parent of two and proud grandparent of three.
