Communications Specialist
(GA or Hourly, Part-Time - Starting Fall 2024)
The Engineering Undergraduate Research Office at Purdue University seeks a Communications Specialist to join our team. This part-time role, beginning in August 2024, is open to both graduate and undergraduate students, with the position structured as either a 1/2 or 1/4 time Graduate Assistantship (GA) or an hourly role, depending on the candidate's experience and preference.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop & Execute Communication Strategies: Manage and enhance online communication efforts, including social media and email campaigns. This includes overseeing our monthly newsletters and LinkedIn page.
- Content Creation: Produce engaging content for digital and physical platforms, including photography, video recording, and design of materials such as fliers and swag.
- Marketing & Media Planning (GA 0.5 only): If hired as a 0.5 GA, create and implement a comprehensive marketing and media strategy, which may involve writing and publishing articles on program activities and participants.
Qualifications

Required:
- Experience in online communication (e.g., social media and email campaigns).
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Preferred:
- Familiarity with Delivera (newsletter design and distribution), LinkedIn, and Canva (or similar tools).
- Photography and photo editing experience.
Anticipated Start
August 2024, with potential continuation through Spring and Summer 2025 based on performance.
