Professor Weiner will discuss his work on femtosecond optical signal processing, highlighting Ultrabroadband Photonic Radio-Frequency Systems, a new field that promises generation, processing and application of radio-frequency electrical signals of unprecedented bandwidth. This work is performed under the auspices of a National Security Science and Engineering Faculty Fellowship, a new program supporting top-tier researchers from U.S. universities who conduct long-term, unclassified, basic research of strategic importance for the Department of Defense.
