Director of Campus Planning, Office of the Architect
John Collier received his Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Purdue University in 1984 and has worked for the University Architect ever since. Currently, he is the Director of Campus Master Planning in the Office of the University Architect. Collier and his staff work closely with the University Architect and other university administrators and stakeholders to support and encourage sustainable campus development consistent with the university's master plan. Over the course of Collier's twenty-five year career at Purdue University, three different master plans have guided significant physical changes to the campus. In February 2009, the Board of Trustees approved the most recent version of the West Lafayette campus master plan which establishes an exciting vision for future campus development in support of the university's New Synergies Strategic Plan. Collier's presentation illustrates the evolution of the master plan, highlights projects that have transformed the appearance of the West Lafayette campus, and describes the guiding principles upon which the current master plan is based.
