From the Dean: November 2018
Dear Purdue Engineering Community,
Last month, as one of the alumni engagement events around the world this year, we hosted a reception for alumni in Minneapolis. The event was delightfully in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Society for Women Engineers, where Purdue Engineering was a visible contributor. Last week, we celebrated the official launch of the Lillian Gilbreth (Postdoctoral) Fellowship and welcomed the arrival of the inaugural class of LGFs, who carry the name of a pioneer for Purdue and the nation.
With Thanksgiving coming next week, and as the University rolls out the Job Family Structure, we particularly want to express deep appreciation for the contributions by all the staff colleagues in the College. One of the most exciting celebrations of the year is the 2018 Engineering Staff Awards Banquet on December 7 at the Ross-Ade. We are all looking forward to recognizing this year’s finalists and award recipients.
During this season, we also give thanks to all the individuals, corporations and foundations who generously provided gifts to support our students and faculty today and in years to come. 2017-18 was a record year in such philanthropic support, and this semester so far has been even better. These gifts are essential to enabling the Boilermaker engineers to attain the Pinnacle of Excellence at Scale in our learning and discovery. Thank you all.
