PURDUE ENGINEERING 38 BY 38 CONTENT PACKAGE

Summary

The Purdue Engineering 38 by 38 is inspired by the legacy of alumnus Neil Armstrong, who was 38 years old when he became the first person to set foot on the moon. The annual award honors 38 Purdue Engineering alumni who are 38 years old and younger and have demonstrated an accelerated trajectory of professional success and made a significantly high impact in their field, organization, community or society as measured in units relative to their work. Social Strategy

The inaugural 38 by 38 award ceremony will be held in October 2024. The social strategy for this award will evolve throughout the year, and academic unit and program social postings about it are most welcome.

Timeline

  • Nov. 1, 2023-Jan. 31, 2024: Help promote the award and encourage nominations of alumni. Anyone can nominate a Purdue Engineering alum who is 38 years old and younger on Jan. 1, 2024 (with the exception being that self-nominations are not allowed). The goal is to promote the award and encourage many internal and external nominations of eligible Purdue Engineering alumni from each academic unit. This is especially key in the inaugural year.
  • July 2024 and throughout the year: The inaugural honorees will be announced in July 2024. Academic units and programs are encouraged to promote their alumni honorees and tag the honorees’ institutions.
  • Oct. 2024: The award ceremony will be held in October 2024. There will be photos from the event and of the honorees that academic units and programs could share as well as potential photos of the honorees engaging with students and/or faculty while they are on campus for the ceremony (TBD).
  • Nov. 1, 2024: The call for nominations begins anew.
