Rapid Response Envisioning the Future Research & Innovation Online & Remote Education Working & Fostering Community

Working & Fostering Community

What enables us to work effectively and build community remotely? Enhancing 5G technology, strengthening the resilience and cybersecurity of our computing infrastructure, and experimenting with new digital platforms for online meetings are just a few ways that Purdue Engineering faculty, students and staff are tackling this challenge.

Featured Media

Students working in Bechtel Innovation Design Center produced a video featuring a novel remote machine process to support students and others affected by COVID-19.

GEARE (Global Engineering Alliance for Research and Education) salvages the German study abroad experience with a virtual platform.

Bechtel Center graduate shop assistant Alyssa Fernandez sewing Tyvek and polyester gowns, head wraps, and boot covers to donate to hospitals running low on staff PPE.

Study Abroad students tell how they adapted to their COVID-19 circumstances.

The College offered webinars for faculty, staff and students with Dr. Will – a psychotherapist, comedian, minister and professor who addressed death, loss, change and grief recovery.

Some PPE materials the Bechtel Center sent out – enough frames for 1,773 face shields and/or safety glasses after they’ve been laser-cut, washed, and dried.

Family Resources Related to COVID-19

Minority Engineering Program, IN-MaC team up to offer virtual engineering boot camps.

Civil Engineering/Environmental and Ecological Engineering professor speaks at a virtual town hall on "Networking/Collaborating in a Virtual Environment".

Brainchild-Purdue Covid-19 Innovation Challenge winners have been selected.

Purdue Engineering's Office of Future Engineers is forging new ways to engage and assist future students and their families.

GEARE students, working remotely, design healthcare booth to aid hospitals’ COVID-19 response.

Mechanical Engineering launched Pete's-Pals Mentoring Initiative to connect with and mentor students during the pandemic.

Multidisciplinary research team receives NSF grant to support a study of implementation of Freeform, an online learning environment the team developed.

Minority Engineering Program joins National Association of Multicultural Engineering Program Advocates (NAMEPA) for webinars on national efforts for virtual summer camps.

Student organization perseveres, adapting to remote learning.

Purdue Engineering's Office of Graduate Education gathered some useful resources on mentoring graduate students during this uncertain time.

Minority Engineering Program moves to online delivery of its annual Summer Engineering Workshop and Academic Boot Camp.
