NE Head Kim appointed to DoE Committee
Seungjin Kim, the Capt. James F. McCarthy Jr. and Cheryl E. McCarthy Head of the School of Nuclear Engineering, was appointed to the Nuclear Energy Advisory Committee for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Engineering.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy’s website, the committee periodically reviews the elements of the Office of Nuclear Energy program, and based on these reviews, provides advice and recommendations on long-range plans, priorities, and strategies to effectively address the scientific and engineering aspects of the research and development efforts. Kim will join the committee at its next meeting in July. He is a Purdue alumnus and took over as head of Purdue’s School of Nuclear Engineering in 2017.
