The ASME Committee of Past Presidents confers the Fellow grade of membership on worthy candidates to recognize their outstanding engineering achievements.
Seungjin Kim, American Nuclear Society
For his “contributions toward advancing reactor thermal-hydraulic analysis methods by developing dynamic two-phase flow models, developing advanced instrumentation that expanded capability of two-phase flow experiments, educating nuclear engineers in academics, and providing services to ANS through various leadership positions in the Thermal-Hydraulic Division and in professional meetings.”

Rajamani Gounder, Department of Energy Early Career Research Program, American Institute of Chemical Engineers 35 Under 35 Award, and Received a 2018 Sloan Research Fellowship
Department of Energy Early Career Research Program funding supports the development of individual research programs of outstanding scientists early in their careers.
American Institute of Chemical Engineers 35 Under 35 Award honors 35 notable young professionals under the age of 35 based on achievements in seven categories: bioengineering, chemicals, energy, innovation, education, leadership, and safety.
Received a 2018 Sloan Research Fellowship, a distinction given to early-career scholars who are recognized by the Sloan Foundation as the next generation of scientific leaders.
Eckhard Groll, the Institute of Refrigeration J&E Hall Gold Medal
This internationally respected award recognizes the most noteworthy practical contribution to the field of refrigeration.
Leah Jamieson, Honorary Doctorate from New Jersey Institute of Technology

Mark Lundstrom, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Leon K. Kirchmayer Graduate Teaching Award

Karen Marais, Incubator Award from Systems Engineering Research Center
Only 4 proposals were chosen for full research awards - including Karen’s - which focused on data science approaches to prevent failures in system engineering.
Amy Marconnet, Woman Engineer of the Year, American Society of Mechanical Engineers Electronics & Photonics Packaging Division (EPPD)
Amy was recognized for her outstanding accomplishments and service to the field of electronics and photonics packaging.
Edward Mikhail, United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation Lundahl-Finnie Lifetime Achievement Award
This distinguished award is named for Arthur C. Lundahl and Thomas C. Finnie, celebrating their accomplishments—in imagery analysis and mapping, respectively—and their legacies within the GEOINT Community. Ed is the only academic to have received the award.
Zoltan K. Nagy, AIChE Process Development Division Research Award
This award is given by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Process Development Division Research Award for significant technical contributions to the advancement of process development. Details
Byron Pipes, Honorary Doctorate from the University of Edinburgh
It was given in recognition of his international leadership of engineering research in lightweight composite materials.
Gintaras Reklaitis, American Institute of Chemical Engineers Warren K. Lewis Award for Chemical Engineering Education
The Lewis Award recognizes distinguished contributions to chemical engineering education.

Tom Shih, National Aeronautics and Space Administration Advisory Council
Tom was invited to serve on this senior external advisory body that assists NASA in addressing program and policy matters related to the U.S. civil space program.
John Sutherland, Society of Manufacturing Engineers Gold Medal
John was recognized for his significant contributions to the manufacturing engineering profession through his research, published literature, lectures, and technical communications – and notably his pioneering efforts to establish the field of sustainable manufacturing.
Michael Titus, The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society Young Leader Award
The award provides an opportunity for young, professional members of TMS to advance in the field of materials science through participation in society activities.
Arvind Varma, 2018 American Society for Engineering Education Benjamin Garver Lamme Award
