Smart Cities in the Heartland

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

When people think about smart cities, they usually picture sprawling metropolises like New York and Tokyo. However, when experts talk about the way that technology is reinventing how and where people choose to live, a groundbreaking project from the Purdue Research Foundation (PRF) is becoming the model for smart cities themselves—and for how cities need to reinvent themselves for the new lifestyles that people are demanding in the wake of COVID-19.

Lab To Life

2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The Discovery Park District is an exciting new community being created across more than 400 acres on the Purdue campus. Over the next decade, this mixed use development will become home to more than 10,000 new residents, tenants, employees, and visitors -- all living, working, and enjoying this vibrant community together. This digitally advanced community is rapidly becoming one of the most sought after connected communities in the nation with remote workers flocking to the District from outside Indiana. The District has also become a magnet for innovators and entrepreneurs wanting to evaluate and test advanced networks, novel technologies, and business models aimed at a variety of different community use cases. Called “Lab To Life”, this real-world test bed is one-of-its-kind in scale, infrastructure, and governance and is attracting leading companies wanting to explore the potential of the District. On May 25th, come and meet several of these companies and listen to their ideas and plans during our Lab To Life panel discussion. The panel will highlight several emerging and exciting developments for the District. Learn why the Lab To Life platform is emerging as one of the leading communities for innovation in the county.
