As the United States accelerates efforts to strengthen its domestic semiconductor capabilities, building a skilled, future-ready workforce has become a national priority. This webinar explores the expanding career opportunities in microelectronics and semiconductors—and how professionals can position themselves to thrive in one of the world’s most critical and fast-evolving industries.

Led by Dr. Zhihong Chen, Reilly Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Director of Purdue University’s renowned Birck Nanotechnology Center, the session draws on more than two decades of leadership in semiconductor research, education, and industry collaboration. Since its founding in 2005, Birck has grown into one of the nation’s most advanced academic nanofabrication facilities, playing a pivotal role in translating discovery into real-world impact and strengthening the U.S. semiconductor ecosystem.

Attendees will gain insight into how advances in areas such as chip design, advanced materials, device fabrication, and manufacturing are reshaping workforce needs across industries including artificial intelligence, automotive systems, energy, and next-generation computing.

The webinar will also highlight Purdue’s online Master of Science in Microelectronics and Semiconductors, an interdisciplinary graduate program designed for working professionals. The program offers:
  • A flexible, fully online format
  • Industry-aligned curriculum spanning design, fabrication, packaging, devices, and systems
  • Instruction from expert faculty at the forefront of semiconductor innovation
  • Preparation for high-impact roles across the semiconductor value chain
Whether you are looking to pivot into microelectronics, deepen your technical expertise, or advance your role in a rapidly growing field, this webinar provides a clear view of the opportunities ahead—and how Purdue can help you take the next step.
