Dr. Rasoul Safavian
Senior Technical Advisor, Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau of the FCC
Dr. Rasoul Safavian is currently a Senior Technical Advisor at the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), focusing on the technical and regulatory aspects of the next generation technologies for public safety communications.
Prior to Cypress, Dr. Keshavarzi was a Fellow and Director of Advanced Technology Architecture at GLOBALFOUNDRIES, focused on defining 14nm technology architecture to enable launching a variety of SoC products for a broad range of systems and applications. Previously, Dr. Keshavarzi worked at TSMC as a Director of Design and Technology Platforms defining and leading device and circuit co-optimization for the 20nm technology platform. Dr. Keshavarzi started his career at Intel Corporation, working in various roles, most recently as a Principal Research Scientist at Intel Labs in low-power/high-performance circuit techniques and transistor device structures for future generations of microprocessors.
Prior to joining the FCC, Dr. Safavian held several executive and leadership positions. Past positions include Powerwave Technologies as Vice President and Managing Director of the Government Business Unit; Bechtel Telecommunications as Vice President of Technology and CTO of Americas; WFI as Vice President of Advanced Technologies; and LCC as the Senior Technical Director. Dr. Safavian is also an adjunct faculty at George Washington University and an affiliated faculty member with Penn State University.
Dr. Safavian earned a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Purdue in 1995. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Kansas.
