Terrence Meyer

Professor of Mechanical Engineering

Terrence Meyer earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2001, having been a National Science Foundation (NSF) Predoctoral Fellow and winner of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Graduate Award in Fluid Mechanics.

After earning his Ph.D., Dr. Meyer then worked as a contract research scientist for the Air Force Research Laboratory until 2006. Prior to coming to Purdue, he was an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University.  During his time at Iowa State University he was the principal investigator on research grants totaling over $5M, including an NSF CAREER Award. He has published 2 book chapters and over 65 archival publications, chaired two different topical conferences of the Optical Society of America and received an International Young Researcher of the Year Award in Advanced Optical Technologies.

Dr. Meyer specializes in studies of multiphase, multi-scale reacting thermal-fluid transport processes using a wide range of advanced optical techniques.
