Sara McMillan

Assistant Professor in Agricultural and Biological Engineering

Sara McMillan received her B.S. and M.S. in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Iowa and her Ph.D. in environmental science and engineering from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Before joining Purdue, Sara was an assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Her research focuses on hydrology and biogeochemistry of coupled human and natural systems, particularly using ecological engineering solutions to improve water quality. Her current research, funded by the USDA and NSF, integrates field-based research with quantitative modeling approaches to develop solutions to advance the science of ecosystem restoration.
