B-Xcellent Podcasting brings insight to young black professionals seeking academic success by discussing the journey of various black professionals. This podcast started in 2023 at Purdue University in the College of Engineering.
The goal of the Multicultural Engagement for Researchers & Grads in Engineering (MERGE) Lunches is to bring together engineering graduate students and postdocs who want to help create an inclusive space where people who identify as a minority in engineering can build community and excel. The We Support Black Engineers Campaign was curated to celebrate and show support for Purdue’s College of Engineering Black students, faculty, staff and alumni. This campaign pays homage to the Civil Rights Movement and to the historical I AM A MAN imagery birthed from the Memphis Sanitation Strike of 1968. It also acknowledges modern day racial injustice towards historically underrepresented populations, especially members of the Black community.
Located on the first floor of Neil Armstrong Hall, the Minority Engineering Program offers services and information to all students, especially those from historically under-represented groups, namely African American, Hispanic American, and Native American.
Make your mark. Be part of the nation’s first Women In Engineering! Purdue University’s Women in Engineering (WIE) helps women and girls discover their inner engineer. From mentoring to career development, WIE continually encourages current and future women engineering students by providing interesting and engaging programming relevant to their lives. WIE programs are a place to learn, discover, and explore aspects of engineering and connect with others who are also interested. The Graduate Women in Engineering Network (GWEN) also works with the WIE program. GWEN strives to empower and connect women engineering graduate students. The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) Center provides programming that engages the entire Purdue campus and community on LGBTQ issues through events, lecture series, and support of a discrimination-free environment.
