Hibbitt Engineering Fellows Program

Successful candidates will be selected based on an evaluation of their promise as future academic leaders. They will be expected to carry out independent and collaborative research with engineering faculty members. They will also be expected to teach one course per year in the School, to help connect innovations in the research environment to concepts taught in courses, and to ensure they develop strong teaching skills prior to launching their faculty careers.

Project focused on simulating fluid mixing and solute transport in reverse osmosis (RO) and nanofiltration (NF) devices. RO and NF play a central role in the global waterenergy- climate nexus. They also have complicated hydrodynamic instabilities, geometries, and mass transport phenomena that go to the core of theoretical and computational fluid mechanics.”

JSMF Postdoctoral Fellowship Award in Complex Systems

The JSMF Fellowship is a unique opportunity for students with an interest in and an aptitude for complexity science who are in the final stages of completing their Ph.D. and looking to make a significant change in direction for their first postdoctoral fellowship (field of study, model organism, theory vs experimental, etc.) that will either be difficult or impossible without an external source of funding. Students should anticipate activating the Fellowship between June 2020 and February 28, 2021. This Fellowship is not intended for individuals that already have completed a Ph.D. or students that have already identified a postdoctoral position and a postdoctoral mentor as traditional funding mechanisms are better suited to these students. Such applications are ineligible for consideration. The total amount of the JSMF Fellowship is $200,000 USD to be expended in no less than 2 and no more than 3 years. Typically JSMF can support up to 10 Fellowships each year.

Provost's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

Provides funding to increase opportunities for hiring postdoctoral fellows from underrepresented groups, specifically Indigenous and Black researchers. These fellowships will enable postdoctoral researchers to grow their scholarly profiles, undertake academic work at the University of Toronto, and strengthen the research environment at the University with diverse perspectives. The funding will be offered as a pilot program for three years (starting 2019). Funding for 7 postdoc fellows per year, $70,000 for up to two years to support salary and benefits with $5,000 startup funding per year.
Eligibility: Individuals who identify as Indigenous and/or Black, and obtained a doctoral degree within the last five years from the start date of funding; award open to both domestic and INTERNATIONAL postgrads.
