Undergraduate research program plans symposium

The 2012 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) program will hold its annual research symposium Wednesday, Aug. 1. The 140 SURF students from engineering, agriculture and science disciplines will present their summer research to professors, graduate students, general public and other program participants. The symposium will run from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering. It is free and open to the public.

Pawley to receive award at White House

Alice L. Pawley, assistant professor in the School of Engineering Education, is among 96 researchers named as recipients of the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE). PECASE is the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on science and engineering professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers.

Litster to receive AIChE award

James Litster, professor of chemical engineering, will receive the 2012 Thomas Baron Award in Fluid-Particle Systems at this fall's annual AIChE meeting. The award is given by the Particle Technology Forum of the AIChE.
