Cohort of 2023 Trailblazers in Engineering Fellows named

The newest class of Trailblazers in Engineering Fellows recently completed a three-day workshop that helped prepare the group to secure positions as future engineering faculty.
The latest cohort — 37 PhD students and postdocs in engineering or related disciplines at U.S. research universities – was selected in late June and represented 25 institutions. Fellows were chosen not only for their outstanding scholarly achievements but also for their potential impact on broadening participation in engineering.
The full list of Fellows is on TBE’s website.
“We are thrilled to have a cohort of high-caliber TBE Fellows with outstanding academic records, boundless creativity and a pursuit of excellence in engineering," said Luna Lu, associate dean of faculty in the College of Engineering. "We believe their journey as trailblazers will continue to flourish, and we are excited to hear more of their successes in the future."
The group participated in a professional development workshop July 24-27 in West Lafayette that allowed Fellows to network with leading faculty in engineering, thought leaders, program managers at key federal funding agencies and Purdue Engineering heads. They also participated in a poster session to pitch their research and teaching plans and received feedback to strengthen their job talks.
The workshop included keynote talks from Cato T. Laurencin, a professor at the University of Connecticut, and Cecilia R. Aragon, a professor at the University of Washington in Seattle.
The Air Force Office of Scientific Research, Office of Naval Research, National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Energy and the Internet of Things for Precision Agriculture were participating national agencies and sponsors of the workshop.
