5 Engineering professors named University Faculty Scholars

The University Faculty Scholars program, offered through the Office of the Provost, is intended to recognize outstanding faculty who are on an accelerated path for academic distinction.

Five College of Engineering professors have been recognized as University Faculty Scholars.

The Engineering Named Professorship Committee selected Jing Gao, associate professor in the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering; Hector Gomez, professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering; Jonathan Poggie, professor in the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics; Gesualdo Scutari, professor in the School of Industrial Engineering; and Wenzhuo Wu, Ravi and Eleanor Talwar Rising Star Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering.

The University Faculty Scholars program, offered through the Office of the Provost, is intended to recognize outstanding faculty who are on an accelerated path for academic distinction.

The distinguished scholars have demonstrated exemplary dedication, expertise and innovation in their respective fields. Recipients are appointed to five-year terms and receive an annual allocation of $10,000. The funding will play a crucial role in enabling cutting-edge research, facilitating collaborations and fostering academic excellence.

Faculty eligible for the award are those who hold the rank of tenured associate or full professor who have been in the rank no more than five years and new hires at that academic level if appointed with tenure.
