Purdue University is building its leadership in cislunar space, leveraging its unique strengths to respond to the emerging challenges in the Earth-moon neighborhood.

Four Purdue Engineering professors have been named to the list of Highly Cited Researchers 2019 from the Web of Science Group. This group annually compiles a list of the world’s most influential researchers, this year from over 1,200 institutions in more than 60 countries.

From Tanzania to the Netherlands, Purdue doctoral student Jessica Eisma is addressing challenges of water resource management fundamental to everyday life and long-term sustainability for populations worldwide.

Surthriving week is a week-long event run by Purdue Engineering Student Council (PESC) with different events each day, aimed to promote well-being and provide healthy avenues of stress relief for finals exam studying each week. This year’s Surthriving Week is a collaboration between PESC, Timmy Global Health, Purdue Student Union Board (PSUB), Purdue Student Engineering Foundation (PSEF), and the College of Engineering.

“Like oil and water” doesn’t apply just to personal relationships that aren’t working. It also applies to the challenges scientists face when combining spices and other products that conventionally do not mix well in producing improved drugs, foods and cosmetics.

The Ralph W. & Grace M. Showalter Research Trust Fund annually provides funding to Purdue in support of scientific and medical research. The Showalter programs at Purdue support selected University Faculty Scholars, research projects directed by assistant professors, and two Showalter Distinguished Professors, Charles Bouman and Kinam Park.

Drowsy driving is blamed for hundreds of deaths each year in the United States. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 4,000 people were killed in vehicle crashes involving drowsy driving from 2013 to 2017.

The Wall Street Journal lists Purdue University sixth-best globally and third-best in the U.S. in a recent article highlighting startups generated from university-licensed technologies over the past 12 months.
