Socially, the building is the home of the Purdue Engineering Student Council which has invited the club All Majors Engaged in Technology (AMET), a multidisciplinary society, to run its build nights (open to all Purdue students) out of the BIDC.

In October 2018, the facility will have a campus-wide learning community based out of Wiley Hall. Called “Hands on Design and Fabrication,” it is geared toward students who wish to learn design and fabrication.
