$2.5M gift launches Shah Family Global Innovation Lab at Purdue Engineering

Purdue’s Shah Family Global Innovation Lab will be a place of learning, exploration and problem solving with international impact. Formerly the Global Engineering’s Innovation for International Development (I2D) Lab, the new program is launched by a $2.5M gift from Manahar (Manu) Shah, who received a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue in 1968. Shah and his family’s impactful commitment was announced on Nov. 2 at the signing ceremony.

The First International Ideas Festival brings Purdue Engineering alumni together in Taipei

Purdue Dean of Engineering Mung Chiang lead a delegation from College of Engineering and traveled to Taiwan recently to meet with alumni, grow industry and government partnerships, and strengthen university alliances. The trip spanned three major cities in Taiwan: Taipei, Hsinchu and Tainan, and included an alumni reception with panel discussion in Taipei to celebrate Purdue University’s 150th anniversary.

ME Head Dr. Anil Bajaj to step down

Anil K. Bajaj, the William E. and Florence Perry Head and Alpha P. Jamison Professor of Purdue’s School of Mechanical Engineering, will leave his position at the end of the 2018-19 academic year, he announced on November 15. After a sabbatical year, he plans to return to the ME faculty.
