Taleyarkhan team places first at IEEE conference

A team led by Rusi Taleyarkhan, professor of nuclear engineering, received first place in the "Best Demonstration Contest" at the IEEE SENSORS 2016 conference in Orlando, Florida, that was held this fall. The demonstrations were judged on their impact on multiple fields of science and engineering.

Taleyarkhan's team, which showcased its Purdue-originated technology in a demonstration titled: "Femto-to-Macro Scale Interdisciplinary Sensing with Tensioned Metastable Fluid Detectors," featured doctoral students Alex Hagen and Anthony Sansone, and Purdue alumnus Brian Archambault, manager of technology at Sagamore Adams Laboratories, LLC, Chicago.

The team received a cash award.
