Second year PhD students in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering have the opportunity to present their research through the school’s Summer Seminar series. The Fearnot-Laufman-Greatbatch Award recipient is determined by audience member evaluations. For her talk entitled “Rapid Paperfluidic Detection of Cholera in Drinking Water in Haiti,” Moehling received the highest average overall score, the highest average of all 12 questions on the evaluation form, and the most number of perfect scores.

This award was established by Dr. Neal Fearnot who realized the value of providing students the opportunity to present their research after his own such experience as a graduate student.

Moehling is advised by Jacqueline Linnes, assistant professor of biomedical engineering. The award ceremony took place on August 14 at the Martin C. Jischke Hall of Biomedical Engineering.
