Purdue University’s Hyperloop team is preparing for a SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition beginning Friday (Jan. 27) at SpaceX’s headquarters in Hawthorne, California, against mostly student-led teams from universities in the U.S. and other countries.

Julia Myers Ross (BSChE ’90) has been named dean of the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech. She currently serves as dean of engineering and information technology at University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), which is ranked No. 4 on U.S. News & World Report’s list of Most Innovative Schools.
