Howarter wins Safety Award

John Howarter, an assistant professor of materials engineering (MSE) and environmental and ecological engineering, has won Purdue’s 2017 Presidential Safety Award. The award is given to individuals or groups who have made a significant contribution toward improving safety at Purdue University.

IE Undergrad Nets PPRI Research Award

A casual conversation with a high school jazz band friend about industrial engineering led Giovanni Malloy to an unlikely career. With no plans of studying biology in college, and definitely not entertaining life as a doctor, Malloy is headed after graduation from Purdue in May for life as an infectious diseases specialist. He recently received a 2017 Purdue Policy Research Institute (PPRI) Excellence in Research Award for work in this area.

Two Purdue Engineering students were recently recognized for their work in the Baylor University New Venture Competition. The event is a two-day business plan and elevator pitch competition that promotes entrepreneurship for U.S. and international college students and recent graduates.
