The Principal Director for Autonomy, the National Security Innovation Network, the Purdue Center for Innovation in Control, Optimization and Networks and The Johns Hopkins Institute for Assured Autonomy are hosting an upcoming "Summit on Trusted Autonomy Research & Technology" event.

OVERVIEW

Operational Trust in Mission Autonomy (OPTIMA) is a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) initiative identifying the need to deliver trusted autonomy as a product to serve as a battlefield asset in complex, contested missions on the multi-domain battlefield and enable the deployment of effective human-machine teams.

The Summit on Trusted Autonomy Research and Technology (START) will convene stakeholders and experts from academia, DoD, and commercialization sectors to define a multi-year R&D and investment roadmap to enable trusted autonomy for OPTIMA and broader societal applications.

START attendees will define appropriate notions and baseline attributes for operational trusted autonomy, identify end-state goals, characterize current state-of-the-art and gaps in knowledge, and shape requirements for future investments. START will also identify effective strategies for transitioning ideas from the lab into practice through commercialization and workforce development.
