Happy 120th Anniversary

On behalf of the faculty, students, alumni and staff of the Charles D. Davidson School of Chemical Engineering, I am pleased to wish a Happy 120th Anniversary to the Purdue University College of Engineering!

With more than 800 current undergraduate and graduate students and 8,100 living alumni, the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering has supported the College of Engineering’s mission to take on society’s grand challenges for more than 100 years.

Since our founding on June 14, 1911, Chemical Engineering has educated future leaders who have achieved the highest levels of distinction in their chosen careers. Like them, our growing community of outstanding undergraduate and graduate students has the opportunity to learn and work with faculty who are tackling some of the most important challenges at the nexus of food, energy and health.

Our tradition of excellence in education is combined with a passion to push the boundaries of chemical engineering in energy solutions, clean water production, advanced manufacturing, pharmaceutical innovation, biological engineering, and the improvement of human health. With more than 30 faculty members, including six National Academy of Engineering members and two National Medal of Technology and Innovation recipients, we are preparing chemical engineers to solve real-world problems that improve our quality of life and support the conservation of our earth’s resources.

I congratulate our School’s Class of 2020, and I know they will take their next giant leap as they join earlier chemical engineering graduates who have made their mark in industry, as entrepreneurs, in academia, and in other fields that have impacted society.

For more information on how our School is advancing sustainability, listen to this “Sounds Like the Future” interview with Rakesh Agrawal, the Winthrop E. Stone Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering and a National Medal of Technology and Innovation recipient.

Happy 120th and Boiler Up!
