Babick joins college as communications director

Christine Babick, former director of integrated marketing for Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana, has been named the College of Engineering’s director of communications, effective Monday, Jan. 5.

The director of communications position is new for the College of Engineering. Babick will help develop and implement a communications strategy for the college, and will serve as the college's liaison with the communication directors in the schools, divisions and programs and with the University's marketing and media office. She will report to Leah Jamieson, the John A. Edwardson Dean of Engineering, and will serve on the dean's cabinet and the Engineering Leadership Team.

Babick has 30 years of experience in strategic communications, marketing and management. At Saint Joseph’s College, she oversaw brand messaging and multi-channel marketing. She launched one of the earliest responsive-design websites in higher education and provided strategic counsel for STEM programs.

Before her position at Saint Joseph’s College, Babick was the project and marketing director at Northwestern University, where she oversaw outreach for the cyber learning and STEM education office’s global technology projects. She also spent seven years at Notre Dame, where she managed campus communicators and provided strategic advice to the president’s office, admissions, alumni relations, development, law school, business school and athletics.

Before moving to the Midwest, Babick was at The College Board, a New York City not-for-profit organization that works to expand access to higher education. She also has worked in educational publishing. Babick has published articles on the topics of management in fundraising departments, communications strategies for data security in higher education and strategic web writing.

A native of New York City, Babick earned a bachelor’s degree in communications theory from New York University and a master’s in linguistics from Columbia University.
