Biography:
Dr. Joey Valle is a queer Jewish settler occupying Bodéwadmik, Lenape, Mayaami, and Shawnee traditional and ancestral homelands as a postdoctoral worker in the School of Engineering Education at Purdue. Academically they have been trained and credentialed as a materials scientist and engineer at MIT and University of Michigan – Ann Arbor focusing on injustices undergirding the development of battery technologies. As part of Engineering Workforce Development, they draw upon abolitionist and environmental justice movements to investigate roles the engineering profession has played and continues to play in structuring relationships of domination and unsafety amongst populations it claims to serve.
